   Got a question for you. I’m working on a large opensource project and we would like the nightly builds to create a (tag) directory on a successful build now I know that I can copy the trunk to tags/build and if the build is successfull we can rename the tags/build to tags/20080410r4003 for example

   my question is does the repository copy every single file into that directory or is it just a small file saying this is a branch at revision 4003. the trunk is a couple of hundred Mb and we don’t want to use up too much space on the server. but would like to be able to look back an see the last time that a build completed successfully.

   Do not worry about file space when creating tags, it wont create a duplicate of your files. Instead think of a tag as a pointer to a particular section of your repository at a particular revision.
